The Role
As a growing and fast-paced business with a strong industry reputation, we’re seeking a proactive and highly organised Transport Manager to take ownership of our HGV and grey fleet across the South Eastern region.
This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you’ll lead fleet compliance and transport operations, alongside oversight of our Head Office workshop – ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently, and to the high standards we’re known for.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a key role in keeping our operations moving by:
- Managing and maintaining our HGV and grey fleet, ensuring all vehicles are compliant and roadworthy
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the workshop, including organisation, safety, and efficiency
- Ensuring all vehicle maintenance is up to date, including MOTs, PMIs, tachographs, and defect repairs
- Coordinating calibration and testing of equipment, tools, and vehicles
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records across systems such as Fleetcheck and Licencecheck
- Ensuring all driver and vehicle documentation is completed, compliant, and filed correctly
- Monitoring driver compliance with traffic regulations and driver hours rules
- Supporting driver licence checks, training records, and ongoing development (including FORS training)
- Working closely with Contract Managers to manage both employed and self-employed drivers
- Ensuring RAMS and working processes are in place, up to date, and communicated effectively
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies, particularly Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards
- Support the Head of Transport in implementing legislative changes and ensuring adherence
- Assist in maintaining Operator’s Licence requirements, ISO certifications, FORS, and other accreditations
- Contribute to continual improvement across our Integrated Management Systems
About You
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and support teams
- Proven experience in fleet, transport, or workshop management
- Good understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive problem solver with a hands-on approach
Qualifications & Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC (essential)
- FORS Practitioner (desirable)
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category C desirable but not essential)
- Relevant industry experience
